'장한범 국제사범 품새시범 선보여 눈길'

미국 휴스턴태권도협회(회장 송철)가 주최하는 ‘2022 휴스턴 오픈 태권도 챔피언십 대회’가 지난 26일(토) 웨스트필드 고교(Westfield High School) 체육관에서 참가선수들과 가족 등 약 1천여명이 체육관을 가득 채운 가운데 성대하게 치러졌다.
대회는 참가자 등록을 시작으로 심판 및 지도자회의 후 품새, 겨루기, 격파 부문 수련생들이 출전하여 기량을 뽐냈다.
Hosted by the Houston Taekwondo Association (Chairman Song Chul), the 2022 Houston Open Taekwondo Championship was held at Westfield High School Gymnasium on the 26th (Saturday) with about 1,000 participants and their families filling the gym.
Starting with the registration of participants, trainees in the Poomsae, Competition, and Breaking categories participated after the referee and leadership meeting to show off their skills.

이날 김 백호태권도 Kim's White Tiger Taekwondo(관장 김석우/7단) 장한범 사범(5단)이 품새시범을 선보여 관중들의 눈길을 주목받았다.
장한범 사범은 대한민국 해병대를 전역했고, 대전 유성생명과학고 태권도부, 부산 동아대학교 태권도학과를 졸업한 태권도 품새선수 출신이다.
On this day, Kim's White Tiger Taekwondo (Director Kim Seok-woo/7 dan) and Jang Han-beom (5 dan) demonstrated poomsae, drawing attention from the crowd.
Master Jang Han-beom was discharged from the Korean Marine Corps and graduated from the Taekwondo Department of Yuseong Life Science High School in Daejeon and the Taekwondo Department of Dong-A University in Busan.

대학선수시절 Korea Open 페어 1위, 계명대 총장기 단체전 3위를 입상한 전적이 있으며, 2020년도에는 월드와이드 스포츠 온라인 오픈 품새대회(2nd Lents Taekwondo Worldwide Sports Onlne Poomsae Open 2020)에 제자들을 출전시켜 개인전 2위(학생이름: Ethan Choudhury), American Taekwondo United(ATU) 개인전 1위(학생이름: Ethan Choudhury)를 차지하는 쾌거를 이룬바 있다.
이번 대회에서도 30여명의 수련생을 지도하여 좋은 성적을 거두었다. 특히 한국인 엄마의 삼형제가 모든 종목 1위, 우승을 차지했으며, 삼형제의 한국인 엄마도 태권도를 시작하고 대회에 참가해 우수한 성적을 거두어 휴스턴 태권가족의 영예를 안았다.
When he was a college athlete, he won first place in the Korea Open Fair and third place in the Keimyung University's long-term team event, and in 2020, he participated in the Worldwide Sports Online Open Poomsae Competition (2nd Lentes Taekwono Worldwide Sports Only Pomsae Open 2020) to become second place in the individual event (student name: Ethan Choudhury), American).
In this competition, about 30 trainees were coached to achieve good results. In particular, the three brothers of Korean mothers topped all sports and won the championship, and the Korean mothers of the three brothers also started Taekwondo and participated in the competition and achieved excellent results, earning the honor of the Houston Taekwondo family.

장 사범은 “미국에서 태권도를 지도하며 2년 2개월이 되었다. 제자들이 도전하고 성취하는 모습을 보니 매우 뿌듯했으며, 국제사범으로 태권도를 가르치는 것도 좋지만 그 안에서 건강, 예의, 규율 등을 교육하면서 또 다른 문화를 미국인들에게 알리는 것이 대한민국 태권도 사범으로서 매우 자랑스럽다” 며 “부족한 영어실력이지만 수련생이 지도자에 공감능력을 발휘하고 믿고 존중해줘서 너무 고맙고 감사하다. 그래서 성취감을 느끼고 더 열심히 할 수 있었던 것 같다. 태권도를 사랑해주시는 미국지역 학부모님께도 진심으로 고마움을 전한다.”고 말했다.
Master Jang said, "It has been two years and two months since I taught Taekwondo in the United States. I was very proud to see my students challenge and achieve, and it's good to teach Taekwondo as an international teacher, but I'm very proud as a taekwondo master in Korea to promote another culture while educating Americans on health, courtesy, and discipline. So I felt a sense of accomplishment and was able to work harder. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to parents in the U.S. who love Taekwondo, he said.
